Cheeseburger-ringed pizza in Middle East!?
Okay, it’s rant time.
I’m all for trying new foods, creative new recipes, and even bizarre ingredients. But a cheeseburger ringed pizza? Promoted by Pizza Hut in the middle east!?
Let’s get real, here. This isn’t a hamburger meets pizza love-child. This is the American fast food industries “bigger, faster, cheaper” mindset at its finest. When McDonalds and other fast food chains began to rise in Asian countries during the past century, so did chronic diseases and obesity. Coincidence? Unlike Paula Deen, not everybody just has simple “genetic predisposition” to diabetes (another rant I could give entirely, but I’ll spare the public). But really, think of it this way- In urban China and India, the prevelance of diabetes, obesity, and low physical activity are now ten times that of the rural population. And urban Chinese boys are now averaging about 7 pounds heavier than they were just 30 years ago. With the steadily increasing 3,800 KFC’s and 700 Pizza Huts now residing in Chinese urban areas, it’s a no brainer that the “bigger, faster, cheaper” motto is spreading like wildfire onto Asian cultures (and thighs). The beautiful cities once colored with rich heritage now are lined with billboards and blinking fast food signs.
Will cultures begin to lose touch with their tradition cuisines? I sure hope not. Lord knows I still have much too many places to visit and dine in. I’d rather not see a cheeseburger listed as the staple meal of China in my future grandchildrens textbooks. But alas, America’s filthy habits and garbage cuisine seem to be spoiling everything.
Just another reason to believe “America runs on bullshit”.

I rarely reblog… but this is beautiful.

It is [now] normal for people to be unhealthily overweight in this country. Humans weren’t always like that.

This morning I had a grapefruit. I often like to have them in the morning given I wake up with time to cut the darn thing. I was wondering if the benefits from grapefruit are actually substantial or if I'd reap the same benefits from an easier to peel tangerine or other citrus.
Citrus fruits are all known for one key vitamin: C! Vitamin C helps boost your immune system and functions as an antioxidant to help fight off germs and even harmful cancer-causing free radicals which flow throughout our bodies. But there are other awesome benefits of eating citrus fruit! The skin around the pulps even act as a dietary fiber, which help regulate and clean out our digestive systems.
To answer which is best for you… Well, they’re all great! But in comparing both an orange, tangerine, and a grapefruit, the orange reins superior. Both the grapefruit and orange are your best choices. It’s a close neck-and-neck race, but the orange has more vitamin C than a grapefruit (130% compared to 100%), more potassium (250g compared to 160g), and more folate (10% compared to 6%). They do, however, contain the same amount of fiber, so no contest there!
The orange and grapefruit are both amazing choices, but it’s up to you to decide which you would benefit more from! The one thing a grapefruit does have more of than an orange, however, is more vitamin A (35% compared to 2%), but you can make up for this by having more carrots or sweet potatoes in your diet during the week.
Hope this helps! Stay happy and healthy! XOXO

Sounds delicious! It doesn't matter what type of recipe it is as long as it's healthy and not very difficult to make! :) I'm fourteen and my mother doesn't help me cook (since she usually eats comfort foods). I on the other hand like the opposite :P That would be wonderful if you sent me those too! Sorry if I'm being a bother. :)

Could you send me some healthy recipes? All the things you eat look so delicious! and I get tired of eating the same thing all the time.. it's so bland, and not satisfying at all.
Absolutely! I usually only make breakfasts and dinners. My lunches are usually bought from the salad bar at my local health store. For breakfast, try Bear Naked granola with greek yogurt and raspberries! Or opt for a more savory option with an egg white, spinach, and tomato scramble. For dinner, almond crusted tilapia with arugula is amazing! Just use a fork to whip up some egg whites, and brush the fish with it before you roll it in crushed almonds. Place the fillet on top of fresh arugula and presto! Perfection!
What exactly would you want recipes for? Anything in particular? I have more, including some baked goods, if you would like me to send those your way as well!
